iPool - Intelligent Distributed Hardware Pooling |
iPool is a product which allows virtual serial ports, virtual modem ports and virtual X25 PAD/RAW X25 ports to be created with Sun Systems running under Solaris10 (SPARC and AMD systems are fully supported). The virtual ports can be mapped through to computer systems hosting real I/O hardware under Microsoft Operating systems such as MS XP or MS Server 2003. Communication ports from the MS based system can be distributed to many different Solaris systems. Solaris zones are also fully supported. Essentially, any PC hardware offering communications ports such as multi-port serial cards, multi-port modem cards, multi-port IVR cards and multi-port X25 PADs/Raw X25 within the MS domain can be utilised and fully controlled from Solaris systems via the iPool software.
The IPool software consists of an application which is installed in the MS systems and a specialised application and associated streams drivers for use within the Sun systems. We support 32 and 64 bit architectures.
The diagram below illustrates the type of connections supported by the iPOOL software solution, supporting virtual devices installed within Solaris systems mapped through to physical I/O ports within PCs (Microsoft OS, MS Server or XP) hosting the actual physical I/O hardware.
